Secure Franchise Management is not just another Application –
it is a whole new way of Managing your Franchise Operations

We first met some of you at Franchise Supplier Showcase at Whittlebury Hall in early May.

We met many more of you at the National Motor Cycle Museum on the 18th November.

Every month we talk to many different Franchisors about how an effective Franchise Management Strategy would help achieve their business objectives. It’s really interesting to compare the different views each Franchisor has about their business and what is most important to them.  It was not long before we began to understand that what we were discussing was different aspects of the same recurring life cycle of growth and development.

The emphasis changed at different points in the growth cycle but the pattern was strong and repetitive.  What amazed us was that the demand for information and guidance on how best to allocate scarce resource often became overwhelming.  It was then that we decided to offer Secure Franchise Management as an information platform to accelerate and improve quality of communications between:

a)    The Franchisor and his top management team
b)    The Franchisors Top Management Team and their field agents and Franchisees

Having successfully launched the Secure Franchise Management solution we decided to look at complimentary performance improvement platforms.

The first of these is Carrier Class VoIP.

As many of you will know VoIP stands for Voice over IP, which simply translates into Telephone Voice communications over the Internet.  This cheap and robust form of communication has been highly popularised by Skype, who provide very low cost International communications between friends and family.

Microsoft and Nortel have established a World Wide Alliance Partnership to provide a Carrier Class telephony solution.  This managed service solution guarantees five nines performance, which translates into 99.999% uptime.

This has allowed telecommunications solutions provider, Rosecom to team up with Secure Franchise Management solutions to offer FREE TELEPHONE CALLS between the Franchisor, his regional staff and his Franchisees and offer that free service to be extended to the Franchisees’ area agents and key customers.  In addition calls to third parties and mobiles are at a fraction of the price charged by conventional telecommunications service providers.

Other free / low cost services available include:

i)    Caller initiated conference calls that avoid setting up expensive connections initiated by a third party

ii)    ‘Follow me’ and ‘Daisy chain’ connections where users can programme their primary hand set to forward a call to a mobile phone, home phone, transfer the call to a colleague or take a voice mail.  This provides a veneer of professionalism across your whole network at a very low cost.

iii)    Using simple Webcams, the above facilities can easily extend into simple to install Web-conferencing and multi-cast Wbinaire facilities.

Popular Misconceptions

The mass market attraction of Free / Open Source solutions has helped to evangelise the more enterprising domestic users and small businesses from the stranglehold of traditional PSTN carriers. However, the free versions of VoIP software tend to have patchy quality and are certainly a long way from the five nines SLA (Service Level Agreement) expected by the average business user.

The Business Grade VoIP solutions have brought considerable operational cost savings to the largest International Enterprises but the initial capital investment and infrastructure costs are beyond the means of most SMEs.

Hosted IP Telephony (HIPT).

By undertaking the up front capital investment and spreading the capital and support costs over hundreds of users organisations, HIPT providers like Rosecom provide a grade of service that matches the PSTN.  Depending on the size of the business, Rosecom will offer a choice of high quality broadband, leased lines or MPLS (private network) connections. These connect to a carrier grade switch, the Nortel CS 2000, which is the latest version of the DMS (Digital Multiplex System) exchange used by BT across the UK for many years.  As you can imagine this traditional legacy has multiple interconnects with the PSTN and guarantees various fail over mechanisms to ensure that there is NEVER downtime in the core system.
